COVID-19 Briefing for Broker Direct Policyholders only
This is an update around certain elements of cover and the processes that are now in place, for any Broker Direct policyholders.
This update is for policyholders that are currently insured under any Broker Direct Private Car, Commercial Vehicle or Household product who have had a change in circumstances due to the current Government restrictions imposed to attempt to control the spread of COVID-19. Broker Direct want to provide clarity and reassurance that they are here for their policyholders and will help to make their lives easier in these uncertain times.

The following applies to Broker Direct Private Car Products only – Supporting key workers
Broker Direct support the NHS and all keyworkers. If your work is critical to the national response to COVID-19 and you need to use your own car to drive to and from work including different locations for work purposes because of the impact of COVID-19, your cover will not be affected and you do not need to tell us.
Supporting those who cannot work from home
If you must drive to your workplace because of the impact of COVID-19, your Broker Direct insurance policy will not be affected, and you do not need to tell us.
Supporting those who use their cars to help their communities
If you are using your own car for voluntary purposes to assist the NHS or to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by COVID-19 your cover will not be affected, and you do not need to tell us.
Supporting those who have been made unemployed
Broker Direct aim to support their policyholders during this difficult period, if you have been made unemployed as a result of the Government restrictions during the course of your policy period, you do not need to notify us until the renewal of the policy, at which point the policy details should be updated accordingly.

These commitments apply to private cars insured on private car policies only. This doesn’t cover use for hire or reward purposes.
‘Keyworkers’ applies to everyone who works in one of the critical sectors listed by the Government.
The following applies to both the Private Car and Commercial Vehicle Products Only
MOT’s due from 30th March 2020
If a car or van MOT expiry date is on or after 30th March 2020 it will be extended by six months, the vehicle must be kept in a safe and roadworthy condition and as soon as this restriction is lifted, an MOT must be booked in at the earliest possible opportunity.
The following applies in respect of the Household products – Supporting those who are working from home
If a Broker Direct policyholder is an office-based worker and needs to work from home because of the Government advice or because you need to self-isolate, your home insurance cover will not be affected, and you do not need to tell us.
